It is not that easy; Emerson speaks like a labyrinth. What I would have to say he thinks generates success would be the virtues and self reliant personality required to be independent of outside influence and guidance. It is important not to be swayed and molded by your society and attempt to model yourself after others. You are not them, and you should look to live your life accordingly. In the event you fail to meet the same outcome or standards set before you, your life crumbles and you must start over from scratch only now you are disheartened and broken. I would agree with Emerson that it requires a great deal of independence and fortitude to pursue whatever roads are opened up to you. You mustn’t be instilled with the notion of becoming something great like those before you, for you will not feel great accomplishment should you reach success, but if you leave leniency in your path you may yet find satisfaction. I think it’s not necessarily bad to model yourself after the successes of others, you just must know their path might not be right for you and don’t burn all of your bridges. You may find that other doors are opened along the way that you may want to follow and see where they take you.
